This page attempts to describe the essense of those that are permanent fixtures (or are wannabees) at the hangars in and around Felts Field.

Mike "Gas Man" Scalera

One of the original members of the 'Sky Blues Acrobatic Team' (flying wing). Born the son of a poor Italian immigrant, Mike started his relationship with speed and danger at age 9 when he raced his first Formula Ferrari and it's been non-stop since. Mike has always been enthralled with speed and at age 12 Mike won the International Soap Box Derby in Akron, Ohio. Unfortunately, he was disqualified when it was discovered that he had a team of 128 hungry hamsters underneath his racer to pull the car to a winning speed. He amazed the world in 1988 when he flew his aircraft inverted at over 200 MPH through a giant Pepperoni Pizza suspended just five feet above the ground.

We're all hoping that his handle comes from the fact that he manages the field avgas co-operative - and not because of any biological processes (hmmm, maybe that's why nobody will fly in the same aircraft as him...)

Mike currently indulges his split personality by punching holes in the sky with either a Pitts Special or his Cessna 180 Skywagon.

Addison "Sugar Bear" Pemberton

Known locally as 'Addie', Addison with his sons run Pemberton and Sons Aviation, where they take seemingly innocuous piles of scrap and struts and turn them into wonders of the sky. Check out the link - you WILL be amazed.

Addison has bragging rights to a Cessna 185, a Super Cub, and a Stearman 4DM and E75. Saving the best for last, Addison and cronies are currently restoring what will soon be one of the few flying Boeing 40's in existance.

Larry "Hollywood" Tobin

(Mike is cooking up something, ummm, 'appropriate'. Heh, heh).

Keith "Bald Eagle" Antcliff

One of the original members of the 'Sky Blues Acrobatic Team' (flying lead). Famous Country and Western singer and television star. Keith has been famous in television for many years. Keith was also the first person to make a nude parachute jump into Lake Michigan and still holds the record.

Keith started flying aerobatics at an early age and has been flying aerobatics for over 60 years. Keith once flew a complete aerobatic sequence blindfolded and with both hands tied behind his back. While team flying in formation the Sky Blues Team wing aircraft are referred to as Red Eagle and Blue Eagle. Keith is referred to as Bald Eagle.

Like many at Felts, Keith's bipolar disorder is serviced by jockeying either his Pitts Special, or his Beechcraft Bonanza Jaguar. Just ask him to see his pussy - he is quite proud of it.

Corey "Why Run" Wirun

Corey started flying at the tender age of 8 months when he first solo'd the formidable Flying-Ducky 25A outside the local K-Mart. Since then he has spent thousands of hours in the 'Duck, eventually moving up to the Dinosaur PM6 until it was decommisioned in the late '70's due the high cost of maintainenance. However, local sources at the time said it was because he "was creeping people out" and not because the Dino' was in need of repairs. This part of Corey's history is a little, umm, foggy.

Corey is the token Canadian in the Felts aviation community. He is based out of Okotoks, Alberta (CFX2) and is a part owner of Cessna 177B Cardinal.
